Mommy makeovers are highly sought-after procedures because they combine multiple procedures in one to address the various concerns that many women face after childbirth. The surgical techniques used allow women to address their major concerns about the changes they have undergone in their breasts and abdomen regions. Though this is a time and money saver for those who want multiple procedures, the recovery can be extensive. Dr. Erella and the team at Aspira Plastic Surgery will walk you through the recovery steps and postoperative care instructions so that it is as easy as possible.

What’s Included in a Mommy Makeover?

Most common procedures that are involved in the mommy makeover are:

Other procedures may be included during your personalized mommy makeover surgery depending on your goals.

The Mommy Makeover Recovery Timeline

The recovery timeline we set out is very generalized. Each patient will have a different mommy makeover recovery experience dependent on the procedures that are chosen, their health, and how closely they follow postoperative care instructions. The initial recovery for mommy makeover lasts between seven and ten days, with long term recovery lasting several weeks to a couple of months.

Dr. Erella considers this surgery outpatient unless it is extensive and lets patients recover in the comfort of their own home. He will give detailed care instructions for you to follow while you are healing. While the length may fluctuate, the mommy makeover recovery timeline includes:

Week 1

Patients will have their incisions bandaged and will need to wear a surgical garment that manages the swelling, and holds the tissues together. During this time, patients will be on prescribed pain medications. Bruising, swelling, and inflammation will start to occur during this time. The initial side effects will subside within a week but will still be present for a few weeks. Any alcohol consumption or use of tobacco will need to be stopped during the recovery.

Week 2-3

Most patients can start routine activities into their day like walking. After 2-3 weeks you will most likely be able to return to work. Strenuous activity should still be limited. Swelling may still present but have noticeably subsided. Compression garments will still need to be worn at this time. Alcohol consumption and cigarettes are still not permitted at this point.

Weeks 3-6

You should include build-up light exercise in your daily life once you are cleared by Dr. Erella. The side effects may still be present but only noticeable to you. Compression garments usually come off around 4 weeks.

Week 6 and After

You will be mostly healed at this time. You will notice the changes in your body and begin to enjoy your mommy makeover results. Exercise and regular daily activities can be resumed at this point. You may still continue to notice improvement over the next four months.

The medical community uses the general term breast augmentation to refer to cosmetic surgery designed to improve the shape, position, volume or aesthetics of the breasts. This family of surgeries includes lifts, reconstructions, reductions and enhancements, with or without implants. Heralded as the most-requested elective aesthetic surgery in the United States for much of the past two decades, augmentations have the potential to raise a woman’s self-esteem and confidence, depending on her individual needs and desires. How these surgeries change lives hinges on the individual’s concept of self and how she feels about her bust, as well as the final results.

More specifically speaking, breast augmentation refers to breast enlargement. It is typically performed using breast implants that are made of either silicone or saline. Women who seek this procedure usually feel like their breasts are too small.

The Size of the Bust

Confidence can be impacted by the size of a woman’s bust, whether it’s too small or too large. Small breasts can bring about feelings of never having properly matured or looking too masculine. While none of these opinions are necessarily true, feelings are facts when speaking of their effects on a person’s confidence. Too-small breasts can be addressed by breast augmentation, bringing the woman’s expectations of the “perfect” size to fruition. Thanks to breast augmentation, a woman’s view of the ideal can be reached.

The Height of the Breasts on the Chest Wall

Some women have naturally low breasts from puberty, especially if she has a long torso or is tall. Other women experience sagging or drooping after pregnancy and breastfeeding or a big weight loss. Regardless of the reason, a low bust can make a woman view her breasts with a disappointed eye. She may think her low bust makes her look old and matronly, or that the lowness throws off the aesthetics of her silhouette. A breast augmentation can also be combined with a lift procedure to raise the breasts, giving her the perky bosom she wants.

Increasing Your Self-Confidence

When it comes to confidence and self-esteem, our feelings about our bodies become facts. If you are unhappy with your bust and believe it’s having a deleterious effect on your life, schedule an appointment at Aspira Plastic Surgery & Med Spa in Austin. We’d be happy to help you reach your aesthetic goals with breast augmentation. Achieving your dream bust may be a whole lot simpler than you’d once thought.
