Mommy makeovers are highly sought-after procedures because they combine multiple procedures in one to address the various concerns that many women face after childbirth. The surgical techniques used allow women to address their major concerns about the changes they have undergone in their breasts and abdomen regions. Though this is a time and money saver for those who want multiple procedures, the recovery can be extensive. Dr. Erella and the team at Aspira Plastic Surgery will walk you through the recovery steps and postoperative care instructions so that it is as easy as possible.
What’s Included in a Mommy Makeover?

Other procedures may be included during your personalized mommy makeover surgery depending on your goals.
The Mommy Makeover Recovery Timeline
The recovery timeline we set out is very generalized. Each patient will have a different mommy makeover recovery experience dependent on the procedures that are chosen, their health, and how closely they follow postoperative care instructions. The initial recovery for mommy makeover lasts between seven and ten days, with long term recovery lasting several weeks to a couple of months.
Dr. Erella considers this surgery outpatient unless it is extensive and lets patients recover in the comfort of their own home. He will give detailed care instructions for you to follow while you are healing. While the length may fluctuate, the mommy makeover recovery timeline includes:
Patients will have their incisions bandaged and will need to wear a surgical garment that manages the swelling, and holds the tissues together. During this time, patients will be on prescribed pain medications. Bruising, swelling, and inflammation will start to occur during this time. The initial side effects will subside within a week but will still be present for a few weeks. Any alcohol consumption or use of tobacco will need to be stopped during the recovery.
Most patients can start routine activities into their day like walking. After 2-3 weeks you will most likely be able to return to work. Strenuous activity should still be limited. Swelling may still present but have noticeably subsided. Compression garments will still need to be worn at this time. Alcohol consumption and cigarettes are still not permitted at this point.
You should include build-up light exercise in your daily life once you are cleared by Dr. Erella. The side effects may still be present but only noticeable to you. Compression garments usually come off around 4 weeks.
Week 6 and After
You will be mostly healed at this time. You will notice the changes in your body and begin to enjoy your mommy makeover results. Exercise and regular daily activities can be resumed at this point. You may still continue to notice improvement over the next four months.
