The SmartLipo™ Difference

Liposuction techniques continue to advance with each passing year. SmartLipo is currently one of our favorite techniques, with its precise touch and minimally invasive approach. Depending on your aesthetic goals and your unique situation, Dr. Erella may recommend SmartLipo for your body contouring procedure.

What Makes SmartLipo Different?

Traditional liposuction uses a thin cannula using a back and forth motions to loosen and remove any excess fat while also shaping the body for a more defined contour. Traditional liposuction is a more invasive procedure that is also manual for the surgeon. As for SmartLipo, instead of the traditional cannula, Dr. Erella uses a tiny pen-sized laser that breaks down the fat for easy removal. This technologically advanced method of fat removal is gentler and therefore involves less downtime and bruising. Since the procedure isn’t as invasive, it can be performed in-office under local anesthesia, so you are awake during the process but still completely comfortable. SmartLipo combines techniques from laser therapy to break down fat, with the traditional liposuction cannula to remove the fat. SmartLipo also provides the additional benefit of tightening the skin of the treated areas. This allows for optimal results!

What Areas Can SmartLipo be Used on?

SmartLipo can be used on all the same areas as regular liposuction, as well as some smaller areas. With traditional liposuction, you tend to have less control when it comes to small details due to the manual nature of the treatment. Also, a large cannula is too aggressive for small treatment areas such as chin and jowls.

In most cases, SmartLipo can be used on the following areas:

  • Arms
  • Midsection
  • Chin & Jowls
  • Hips & Flanks
  • Knees & Thighs

Is SmartLipo Right for Me?

If you are looking for smaller incisions and faster recovery or have smaller areas that you would like to treat, SmartLipo may be a good option for you. The quicker recovery can be attributed to the gentler removal of fat cells that causes less trauma to the body. However, the best way to know if SmartLipo is right for you is by scheduling a consultation with Dr. Erella.
