Mommy makeovers are highly sought-after procedures because they combine multiple procedures in one to address the various concerns that many women face after childbirth. The surgical techniques used allow women to address their major concerns about the changes they have undergone in their breasts and abdomen regions. Though this is a time and money saver for those who want multiple procedures, the recovery can be extensive. Dr. Erella and the team at Aspira Plastic Surgery will walk you through the recovery steps and postoperative care instructions so that it is as easy as possible.

What’s Included in a Mommy Makeover?

Most common procedures that are involved in the mommy makeover are:

Other procedures may be included during your personalized mommy makeover surgery depending on your goals.

The Mommy Makeover Recovery Timeline

The recovery timeline we set out is very generalized. Each patient will have a different mommy makeover recovery experience dependent on the procedures that are chosen, their health, and how closely they follow postoperative care instructions. The initial recovery for mommy makeover lasts between seven and ten days, with long term recovery lasting several weeks to a couple of months.

Dr. Erella considers this surgery outpatient unless it is extensive and lets patients recover in the comfort of their own home. He will give detailed care instructions for you to follow while you are healing. While the length may fluctuate, the mommy makeover recovery timeline includes:

Week 1

Patients will have their incisions bandaged and will need to wear a surgical garment that manages the swelling, and holds the tissues together. During this time, patients will be on prescribed pain medications. Bruising, swelling, and inflammation will start to occur during this time. The initial side effects will subside within a week but will still be present for a few weeks. Any alcohol consumption or use of tobacco will need to be stopped during the recovery.

Week 2-3

Most patients can start routine activities into their day like walking. After 2-3 weeks you will most likely be able to return to work. Strenuous activity should still be limited. Swelling may still present but have noticeably subsided. Compression garments will still need to be worn at this time. Alcohol consumption and cigarettes are still not permitted at this point.

Weeks 3-6

You should include build-up light exercise in your daily life once you are cleared by Dr. Erella. The side effects may still be present but only noticeable to you. Compression garments usually come off around 4 weeks.

Week 6 and After

You will be mostly healed at this time. You will notice the changes in your body and begin to enjoy your mommy makeover results. Exercise and regular daily activities can be resumed at this point. You may still continue to notice improvement over the next four months.

The new year is quickly approaching, and what better way to start it than with the pre-pregnancy body you’ve been trying so hard to achieve? With a mommy makeover, you can address all of your post-pregnancy body changes that have impacted your self-confidence. Here’s what you need to know about the procedure at Aspira Plastic Surgery:

What to include in your procedure

The mommy makeover can include virtually any procedure you need to restore your appearance and confidence. Most mommy makeovers will include a tummy tuck to address loose tissue and excess skin in the abdomen. The breasts are also highly affected by pregnancy, but different women may experience different changes during the process. If you experience breast volume loss and sagging after pregnancy and breastfeeding, you might consider a breast augmentation, with or without a lift, to restore youthful volume. If your breasts became enlarged during the pregnancy process and you want to restore their natural size, you might consider a breast reduction. Liposuction techniques can also be added to your procedure to address pockets of stubborn fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

What to expect during the process

Because the mommy makeover is so customizable, no two procedure processes are the same. However, the goal of every mommy makeover is to remove excess skin, tighten the underlying tissues, and sculpt your figure. Incisions will be placed in well-concealed areas to make scarring as unnoticeable as possible. Dr. Erella will go over your procedure process in more detail during your consultation.

Other benefits of the mommy makeover

Besides the benefits of the individual procedures used during the mommy makeover, there are several other benefits to combining them! The recovery time for your mommy makeover is shorter than the overall time you’d need to have each procedure separate. You can heal at once to reveal a new you! You can also save money when you choose to have your procedures done in one surgical sitting.

If you’ve been considering a mommy makeover, you should know that you’ll have some things to consider. While the goal of a mommy makeover is to restore the body to its pre-pregnancy state, the procedure is highly customizable for your unique anatomy and concerns. For this reason, you’ll need to consider what you’d like to change about your body and how, so that Dr. Erella can create the best treatment plan for you. Here are some of the most common areas that are corrected through a mommy makeover.

Breast Procedures

For some women, the breasts are greatly affected by pregnancy and nursing. It can affect every woman differently, so your breast procedure might have a different goal than others. The breasts can be reduced, augmented, or lifted during a mommy makeover. Sometimes the procedure contains a combination of these. This can also include correcting and repositioning the nipples and areolae during your breast procedure.

Tummy Tuck

The abdominal area can go through the most radical change during pregnancy and childbirth, and many women are unable to restore the area through diet and exercise. Fortunately, a tummy tuck can remove excess fat and skin, while also restoring the abdominal muscles that can become stretched and ineffective. It can also remove stretch marks that are within the area of excised skin— usually below the belly button.

Liposuction

Many women struggle to lose their pregnancy weight after childbirth because of the way the female body stores fat throughout the process. Many women carry it in their thighs, hips, stomach, and back, and procedures like a breast reduction or tummy tuck can already use liposuction techniques, so many women opt for it to be used on other fatty areas. It requires a small incision and has a big impact on restoring your body’s contours.

The Details

Although there are common areas that are restored during a mommy makeover, some women take extra steps to feel like themselves again. This can include facial rejuvenation, skin treatments, and other non-invasive restorations. This can put the finishing touches on your makeover and leave you feeling even more confident than before.

Summer is quickly approaching, but if you’re feeling self-conscious about showing more skin due to poor body contour, there’s still time for a surgical procedure! There are many body contouring procedures available to target your specific concerns and help you achieve a slim figure. Find out which procedure can help you get ready for summer.

SmartLipo

SmartLipo is an innovative liposuction technique using laser technology to liquefy fat cells prior to their removal with a cannula. This offers many benefits over traditional liposuction such as less discomfort and a quicker recovery. You’ll still receive the effective results of traditional liposuction, but with less trauma on the body and even additional benefits of skin tightening!

Liposuction

It’s difficult to achieve a slim contour when stubborn fat is standing in the way. Unlike regular fat, stubborn fat deposits can be impossible to get rid of without treatment. There are many noninvasive fat removal options available today, however, known of them can give you the significant results like liposuction can! Liposuction can remove stubborn fat from the abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, upper arms, under the chin, and more. Not only is fat removed, but the body is sculpted to give you your desired figure.

Tummy Tuck

If your concerns are with your abdominal area, you might consider a tummy tuck. The tummy tuck procedure can address sagging tissue and excess skin, often present after pregnancy, weight loss, or with age. Once you are in your ideal weight range, the procedure can give you a flatter, more toned abdominal area. Incisions are typically placed below the waistband, allowing you to conceal any scarring.

Arm and Thigh Lift

Excess skin and tissue can also be present in the arms or thighs. While working out and eating right is usually enough to lose weight in these areas, a surgical procedure is often needed to address loose skin and tissue. An arm and thigh lift can tighten the area to give you a more toned look. The two procedures can be performed together, or you might just need one or the other.

Mommy Makeover

If you’ve had children, you understand the effects it can have on your body such as loose abdominal tissue, a loss of breast volume, and pockets of stubborn fat. With a mommy makeover, you can address these concerns with the use of a tummy tuck, breast enhancement, liposuction, and more for full-body recontouring. You can save time and money by opting to combine these procedures at once.

A surgical body contouring procedure takes some recovery time before you can enjoy your results. To learn more about how you can contour your body before summer, contact our office today! We can schedule your consultation with Dr. Erella to discuss your treatment plan.

Whether you’re a new mommy or a seasoned one, you’ve probably heard of someone you know undergoing a Mommy Makeover. What is it? It’s a set of procedures that aim to treat and reverse the negative effects of pregnancy and nursing on the body. The most popular procedures for a Mommy Makeover include breast procedures, like a breast augmentation, lift, or reduction, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. Since every woman’s body is different, this procedure is completely customizable.

Although it’s an invasive, surgical procedure, Mommy Makeovers are highly effective at restoring your pre-pregnancy body. Here are some reasons you might consider one:

Diet and Exercise Might Not Cut It

While a healthy lifestyle is a great thing, there are certain things it just can’t fix. Things like stretched, excess skin or stubborn fat deposits that occur during pregnancy can be there permanently. A Mommy Makeover can remove these, as well as stretch marks— it can also repair muscles that have become lax and ineffective at supporting the abdomen or pelvic area. These are long-term results that can recreate your healthy, contoured profile without the struggle of feeling like you can’t get results, no matter what.

You Don’t Have Any More Plans for Childbearing

While the results of a Mommy Makeover can be permanent and life-changing, they can also be reversed by another pregnancy. If you’re already considering a Mommy Makeover, this will be something you’ll need to discuss during your consultation. However, if you’re no longer planning on further pregnancy and are taking steps to avoid it, a Mommy Makeover can be a great way to feel like you’ve got your body back. Although you’ll never stop being a mommy, your body doesn’t always have to feel like a post-baby body.

You Deserve It

Birthing a child is hard, and it doesn’t stop there. But, that doesn’t mean you’re destined to feeling like you’ll never have your body back. Pregnancy can be one of the most drastic changes a woman’s body undergoes over the course of her life, and after all the difficulty and reward that goes with birthing and raising a child, any mommy deserves to feel her best and like herself again. A Mommy Makeover can restore confidence and the feeling of being desirable to mommies who feel like there are no options.

Having a child is an experience you will never forget. Unfortunately for many women, childbirth leaves them with stubborn fat and loose skin they can’t seem to get rid of. If you are one of these women you might be considering plastic surgery to get you back to your pre-pregnancy body. With a mommy makeover, you can combine and customize your procedures based on the areas you would like to target. Read on to learn more about the procedures that are often included in a mommy makeover.

Breast Augmentation

After pregnancy, you might notice your breasts have lost the volume and shape they used to have. You can restore your pre-pregnancy breasts with a breast augmentation. A breast augmentation uses implants to create fuller, perkier, more symmetrical breasts.

Breast Lift

Often combined with a breast augmentation, a breast lift removes excess skin from the loss of volume and sagging breasts after pregnancy. The results are youthful, well-shaped breasts.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck is a popular procedure to include in the mommy makeover because many women experience excess skin in their mid-section childbirth. This loose skin can be impossible to get rid of with exercise and diet alone. With a tummy tuck, loose skin and tissue are removed and the area is tightened to give you a toned abdominal silhouette.

Liposuction

Stubborn fat can be present on any part of the body after childbirth. If leading a healthy lifestyle isn’t enough to get rid of it, you might turn to liposuction. Liposuction can target the hips and buttocks, thighs, abdomen and waist, breasts, and upper arms. This body procedure is a good one to combine with a breast augmentation or tummy tuck to really tone and tighten the area.

Mommy makeover procedures aren’t limited to this list. Talking with your surgeon can help you decide what procedures are best for you. If you’re ready to take back your pre-pregnancy body, contact Aspira Plastic Surgery and Spa at (512)730-3885 to learn more or schedule your consultation with Dr. Erella.
